Control becomes executable across the engineering stack.

Pinned dependencies, hard AI budgets, preserved policy and migration deadlines turn governance into runtime behavior.

GitHub Actions adds enforceable workflow dependency lockfiles

GitHub put workflow dependency lockfiles into public preview across Enterprise Cloud, Team and Free plans. A committed .github/workflows/actions.lock records exact commits for actions, transitive dependencies and reusable workflows; onboarded workflows must match it, and administrators can require lockfiles by policy. Dependabot can refresh matching entries in the same update pull request.

Why it mattersA mutable action tag or branch can change executable CI code without a repository diff. Lockfiles make that supply-chain drift reviewable and enforceable, although teams must still assess whether the pinned dependency itself is trustworthy and keep the file current.

Microsoft disrupts a cloud-backed phishing infrastructure market

Microsoft and partners disrupted primary developers and infrastructure in a Chinese-language phishing ecosystem. Microsoft tracks three kit families as Storm-2990 and the YAM Store marketplace as Storm-3119; it says the kits facilitated more than one billion email and SMS messages to more than 75,000 organizations since January 2026. YAM Store resold compromised or fraudulently obtained Microsoft and Google environments.

Why it mattersThe campaign used legitimate cloud tenants, licenses, storage and domains as criminal infrastructure, so sender reputation alone is not enough. Defenders need tenant-compromise signals, strong identity controls, cross-channel correlation and rapid revocation paths for abused cloud resources.

BigQuery makes generative-AI token quotas generally available

Google Cloud detailed generally available daily token quotas for BigQuery generative-AI functions including AI.GENERATE, AI.IF and AI.CLASSIFY. Administrators can set separate input and output limits at project and per-user scope through the Cloud IAM quota system, and BigQuery checks and tracks consumption during query execution.

Why it mattersA single SQL statement can fan out model calls across millions of rows. Preventive token ceilings put a hard operational boundary near execution, but teams still need billing budgets, workload attribution and tests for partial results or quota exhaustion.

Apigee hybrid patches semantic-cache SSRF and quota enforcement

Google released Apigee hybrid 1.16.11 with a fix for server-side request forgery in SemanticCacheLookup URL host validation. The patch also corrects LLMTokenQuota behavior that ignored operation-level API-product limits, fixes a JWKS refresh failure after key rotation, and updates multiple runtime components for security vulnerabilities.

Why it mattersAI gateway policies sit on privileged paths to models, caches and internal services. Operators on the 1.16 line should plan the Helm-based patch, then verify semantic-cache destinations, operation-level token limits and identity-provider key rotation in staging.

Dataform can preserve BigQuery policy metadata across executions

Dataform added the preserveGovernanceControls option so workflows can automatically retain BigQuery data policies and data-governance tags when tables are rebuilt. Google lists the capability as generally available while describing the configuration option as preview.

Why it mattersRebuilding a table should not silently erase the controls attached to its data. Teams should enable and test preservation for managed pipelines, while treating the documented preview qualifier as a reason to validate behavior before relying on it as the only compliance safeguard.

Google Cloud sets an August 2027 end date for T4 and P4 GPUs

Google Cloud deprecated NVIDIA T4 and P4 accelerators and set August 1, 2027 as their end-of-support date. After that date, customers will not be able to create, launch or access Compute Engine instances or other Google Cloud resources using those GPUs; new or renewed three-year committed-use discounts are already unavailable.

Why it mattersOlder inference and visualization fleets now have a fixed migration clock. Owners should inventory dependencies, benchmark L4 or RTX PRO 6000 alternatives, reprice commitments and test driver, memory and performance assumptions well before the shutdown date.

HydraFusion adds a Max tier and tool-based parallel critique

GitHub updated the HydraFusion research preview with a new model pool, stage-specific reasoning effort and revised cascade and critique workflows. Cascade can add a judge before requesting repair, while critique uses tools to inspect the workspace and parallel critic models. The new HydraFusion Max option spends more reasoning effort on demanding tasks across VS Code, the Copilot app and CLI.

Why it mattersThe material change is in the orchestration layer, not a new base model: quality, latency and token use now depend on routing, judges, critics and repair stages. Teams should benchmark the full workflow and compare the balanced and Max tiers on representative repositories before standardizing either.
