Microsoft extends Project Perception to contain agentic insiders

Microsoft said Project Perception now applies its cyber stack to enterprise agents, combining Guardian Agents with signals across identity, permissions, data, endpoints, network, cloud and runtime. The company says Project Perception and Microsoft Agent 365 share a registry and context so controls can narrow access, block writes, require human approval or isolate an agent as observed risk changes. Microsoft also expanded discovery to 60 local-agent types, including Claude Code, OpenAI Codex and GitHub Copilot.

Why it mattersThe model should not be its own security authority. Agent platforms need deterministic controls and independent evidence outside the model process, with task-scoped permissions that can tighten before a risky action executes—not only alerts after the fact.

GitHub makes Copilot model policy programmable as six models retire

GitHub made REST endpoints generally available to read and update Copilot model policies for enterprises, enterprise teams, enterprise apps and organizations. The release landed as Gemini 3.7 Flash, GPT-5.5, GPT-5.4, GPT-5.4 mini, GPT-5 mini and Grok 4.5 were removed from most Copilot experiences on October 19; GitHub listed supported alternatives and said administrators may need to enable them through model policy.

Why it mattersModel availability is now a managed dependency rather than a user-only selector. Platform teams can automate policy checks and rollout, but should pair them with migration inventories, evaluations and change records so retired models do not silently alter coding-agent behavior or break integrations.

CodeQL traced scans stop at macOS 27, Xcode 27 and Swift 6.4

GitHub said CodeQL cannot support traced scans with Xcode 27, may not support them on macOS 27, and does not support Swift 6.4 on any platform because Apple no longer ships Intel code in system components CodeQL uses for build tracing. GitHub recommends pinning macOS and Xcode 26 or earlier; C, C++ and Java users can alternatively use build mode none. Intel-Mac support is scheduled for deprecation in mid-December.

Why it mattersA runner image or compiler upgrade can remove security coverage while the build itself still succeeds. Teams should pin runner and toolchain versions, test scanning as a release gate and make unsupported-language or extraction states fail closed rather than degrade silently.

GitHub may require authentication for public HTTPS clones during unusual traffic

GitHub said it may temporarily require authentication for some unauthenticated clones and fetches of public repositories over HTTPS when traffic looks anomalous. Affected operations fail with an authentication-required message; authenticated HTTPS, SSH, pushes, web and unrelated API traffic are unaffected. GitHub recommends GITHUB_TOKEN in Actions and GitHub App installation tokens in other CI systems.

Why it mattersAnonymous public clones are no longer a uniformly reliable automation path under load protection. Build and mirror pipelines should use least-privileged authentication, distinguish this response from repository removal, retry with bounded backoff and avoid long-lived personal tokens.
